Storm Pitch
Our roughest night on the CT was during Segment 20. The trail was overgrown and it was storming off and on, so we made camp early instead of trying to go over a pass in bad weather. Given lots of wind and rain, we pitched the tarp as low as we could, with only one end open (Swami has a good example of this kind of storm pitch here.) We stayed relatively dry, but not comfortable - lots of condensation on the inside of the tarp and it was right on top of us because it was so low. Rain coming in on our heads because of changing winds. On the plus side, three hiker friends camped with us and we got to commiserate together from each of our shelters.
