Pine Beetle Epidemic

Hiking through Segment 21, we saw entire forests destroyed by the mountain pine beetle. Although native to Colorado, global climate change has drastically altered their effect on the ecosystem. They no longer die off in the winter, and as a result, destroy entire forests that then have to be clear cut or burned.
