Bridge of the Gods

After several tense days hiking towards the Eagle Creek Fire and hearing reports it had jumped the Columbia River (true, but only small spots that were out quickly put out), we made it to Bridge of the Gods. Cascade Locks had already been evacuated and the bridge was closed, but they let us walk over to tag the Oregon border. The immediate path south was closed and several more fires had closed hundreds of miles of trail in Oregon, so we had some decisions to make. (September 6, 2017)
